Vice Device // Miss Rayon // Wave Action

Vice Device is the distillation of a musical collaboration between Portland, Oregon’s Andrea K and Bobby Kaliber. Frequently performing multiple instruments in tandem, Andrea and Bobby layer pulsating synth melodies with charged vocals and split the responsibilities of drumming by each performing percussion with one hand. Lurching bass lines are intertwined by Devin Welch to complete the band’s distinctive sound. Through reductive experimentation with analog synthesizers and live electronics, Vice Device create a raw and dynamic soundscape without the use of sequencers or backing tracks.

Portland, Oregon’s Miss Rayon was started by Eric Sabatino as a solo recording project, but soon after putting the finishing touches on a three-song demo, Sabatino recruited bassist Jenny Logan and drummer Hannah Blilie to form a fully fledged trio. Between them, the members of Miss Rayon have done time in The Gossip, Summer Cannibals, Vexations and Deathlist, among others. Residing somewhere on the spectrum between New York no wave and UK post-punk, Miss Rayon’s sound is a squirrely and sidewinding thing. One can hear traces of Sonic Youth and Magazine in the band’s recordings, but there’s nothing nostalgic about Miss Rayon. This is music for a dark future in which dreams break into real life and dance parties descend into madness.

Wave Action are an alternative/post-punk/surf-garage outfit featuring Darin and Clint O'Brien.
